The Grumpy Editor's guide to terminal emulators
I am glad that Aterm got at least an honourable mention at the end. Whenever I have to use an older machine I am glad it is there. On machines that just crawl with gnome-terminal or konsole I can have many Aterm sessions open and things stay snappy. I find it much faster than xterm as well.
I always assumed it was related to memory usage but I have not tested that theory.
