35.1% of $11.8e9 or of units sold?

Not to mention the fact that you need one copy of, say, Debian, for 20 servers, while you need 20 copies of MS Windows 200x. And you don't need to pay even for that one copy if you fetch it off the net, so, it won't show up in *any* statistic.

Just thought I'd add the bleeding obvious...

It could also be that you need more Windows servers than other OS servers to do the same task reliably, says I, tongue in cheek.

sad but,

is web server survey. who make hosting use to provide apache and iis before mono the only way was MS windows, even with mono you can't use old asp. I hate asp, but most people can learn it because they find it in their desktop os, no matter they can download php or zope even if those are very simple to install.

Some month ago, somewhere in netcraft.com i found a report of os count: nearly 70% of server are windows.
