Gupta Technologies Opens SQLBase 9.0 for Linux

Award Winning SQLBase provides high-end features and economical
operation for Linux

Munich & London, 24th May 2004 – GUPTA Technologies LLC, a Platinum
Equity company, and leading provider of embedded relational databases
and visual development tools, today announced the Linux beta version of
its award winning embedded database, SQLBase. SQLBase 9.0 will be fully
released in the autumn of this year and will introduce support for the
Linux operating system.

ISV´s, VAR´s and OEMs use SQLBase on the basis of its low cost and
reliability. But further substantial advantage is in the minimum
hardware requirements and in the independent elimination of errors in
the case of a hardware or a power failure. IT departments have smaller
maintenance and installation costs with SQLBase of Linux, without having
to do without efficiency and very easy operability. IT Departments will
have lower installation costs and shorter waiting times with SQLBase for
Linux without having to do without efficiency or easier operability.
SQLBase 9.0 for Linux also includes support for applications on Linux
using a wide range of languages including:- C/C++, Linux-ODBC, PHP, Perl
and JAVA.

Why use SQLBase for Linux from GUPTA?

In the last three years the use of Linux in large enterprises rose
enormously and currently research shows that Linux counts for 25% of
the server market. In addition a further trend has been observed in the
past 12 months regarding the adoption of Linux on the desktop. In
specialist areas like Point of Sale, Warehouse -Management, Logistics,
or with handheld-applications the market-share is rising much quicker
and it is expected that there will be an annual growth rate of over 97%.

For many years SQLBase from Gupta Technologies has been successfully
deployed and is a completely transaction oriented, SQL based
Database-Engine, with an independent Optimiser, which supports SQL89 and
SQL99 Join Syntax. The installation of SQLBase is very easy and needs no
linking – or the building of source codes - and can be combined with
existing applications. A Database-Administrator can totally rely on the
use of SQLBase. For this reason it is an outstanding solution for remote
offices. Apart from the reduction or even the elimination of support
questions, the Pay-as-you go license includes improved response times
for customer inquiries as a key feature of the new product.
