This is a round-up of news and announcements related to the Scheme
programming language, mostly taken from newsgroups, mailing lists
and web sites that I'm aware of. Please send me more. The aim is to
publish in multiple formats on the web each week, but more on that
very soon. (Date: 2002-08-26) This issue is small and a day late
because of another holiday in the UK. Sorry all. (Compiled by: MJ
Ray)

Guile 1.5.8 beta available for testing
Note that the 1.5.X series is a BETA series, intended only for
testing, so please don't put it into a distribution or anything
similar. If after two weeks, no agreed upon release-critical
bugs have been found, then the first 1.6 stable version, 1.6.1,
will be released. (Rob Browning's words)

MJR| Scheme is an easy language with few rules. No2: You can make a
---' name represent a value with the define function, eg (define a 9)
and then you can use a whenever you want 9. // www.schemers.org
