Novell's Linux Desktop Zeroes In on Integration (eWeek)

eWeek covers
Novell's enterprise desktop plans. ""So, we are essentially
taking the best of all three companies: strength from SuSE in terms of
multiplatform support and enterprise-hardened Linux distributions; our
expertise and usability and innovation and interoperability on the desktop
from Ximian; and Novell's strength as a billion-dollar-revenue company with
an enormous channel and very powerful reach and great product quality and
support," Nat Friedman, Novell's vice president of Linux desktop
engineering, told eWEEK in an interview."

Novell really need to update their list of
executives; it looks bad when someone from one of your wholly owned
subsidaries is giving interviews as one of your vice presidents, yet
isn't listed with the rest of them. Gives trolls something to play with,
too.

Not really; in any big company, VPs are as common as dirt. Even a medium-sized company might have 20 or more. Being a VP doesn't make you an exec; that's for senior VPs and corporate officers.

That's true of banks, where a vice president may have just been graduated this year, but much less so in other industries.
