Living Down to a Low Standard (ComputerWorld)
After tiring of the thirty to sixty second
startup of gnome and kde when ~ is mounted
from a fileserver, I switched LWM (lightweight window manager,
http://www.jfc.org.uk/software/lwm.html)
and I'm now happy as a clam. X starts up
in about two seconds now, and I have all the
functionality I need. LWM is the simplest
possible window manager that still provides normally
functioning window management. Give it a try!
