Bah, zealots...

Or, are you sure? this widely-reported story from a few weeks ago disagrees with you, and while it's not a license, it is more recent than the license you've pointed to. Note that SUSE 9.1 hasn't been released to the public yet, so I'd expect them to formalise the change then.

LWN reported YAST going GPL as well

That YAST was going GPL was reported here on LWN as well, and I was rather
disappointed that it wasn't mentioned in the review as "one change free
software enthusiasts will like", or some such. SuSE wasn't even an option
for me before, because if I wanted non-libre I wouldn't have dumped a
decade on MSWormOS to switch to Linux, but I'm happy to say I can rethink
my options now, and might indeed do SuSE. (Unfortunately, I believe they
still box several proprietaryware apps, including that German financial
software that was mentioned.)

Major complaint against Yast is the non-free license

From the story:

> By contributing the industry's leading management tool YaST from Novell's
> SUSE LINUX business unit to the General Public License (GPL) [...]

If they do it, that's good news. It would be better if they posted it prominently on the appropriate web pages rather than in a "news" story.

Thanks for the update.
