LINUX BUSINESS ALLIANCE RELEASES NEW LBA-LINUX

Helsinki, Finland, 2004-04-16

The Linux Business Alliance has released its inaugural
GNU/Linux distribution, LBA-Linux. LBA-Linux R1 is a
technologically advanced, versatile, easy-to-use operating
system with high aesthetic appeal. Enhanced usability,
hardened security, well-tested functionality and a legal
safety check are some of the key features that distinguish
LBA-Linux from other GNU/Linux distributions. The new
distribution also comes with a useful update "watcher" -
a program that periodically notifies the user about
updates to LBA-Linux software.

"We're highly satisfied with LBA-Linux R1", commented Mr.
Santeri Kannisto, Managing Director of SOT Finnish Software
Engineering Ltd, a member company of the Linux Business
Alliance.

"And to ensure its continuous development, we will soon be
releasing the beta version of LBA-Linux R2 for public testing.
We intend LBA-Linux to develop by a process of continuous
evolution, rather than through major revolutions. As part of
this philosophy, we're committed to doing everything we can to
ensure that users will always be able to update their LBA-Linux
systems to the next newest version, rather than having to endure
painful re-installations and migrations."

The LBA-Linux R1 Foundation CD, used to install LBA-Linux, can be
downloaded from ftp.sot.com. Additional LBA-Linux software is
available from the same site. Installing LBA-Linux from the CD is
straightforward, and can be done by GNU/Linux beginners with only a
few clicks of the mouse. Advanced manual installation options are
also available for people more familiar with the GNU/Linux
environment.

"As well combining the talents of Alliance members, LBA-Linux
draws support from voluntary software developers in the Free
Software and Open Source communities.", explained Mr. Anton
Anisimov, COO of SOT.

"I want to thank those volunteers who have donated their
valuable time testing and translating LBA-Linux. Without their
efforts, the distribution would not have been possible",
Mr Anisimov remarked.

LBA-Linux has been built to show-case the "SOTware" (commercial
COTS components) delivered by Linux Business Alliance members.
SOTware enables customers to create a solution that matches
their needs by selecting combinations of software packages, or
by integrating elements of existing software products.

Is it the same SOT that "refurbished" OpenOffice.org and sold it as "SOT Office" (after removing copyrights)?

same old SOT?
