OFB.biz -- The Desktop Dilemma.
The "Open for Business" website discusses Mandrake Linux to show how
focusing on the desktop is important to the server-side as well:

"The first exhibit that I present to you to show that focusing on the
server will lead to loss of marketshare, is Mandrake's rapid ascent in
Netcraft's server survey. In recent months, it has been found that
Mandrake's Apache/AdvancedExtranet server (a specially tuned version of
the Apache web server, along with servers for other functions) has
surpassed the usage of RedHat's Stronghold Apache server. In fact,
AdvancedExtranet's overall growth was six times that of the web's
average..."

Business Case of the Week

Internet/E-commerce: Top 30 Search Engine Powered by Mandrake Linux.
The North Virginia based Internet consulting group "SiteFusion"
upgraded the lastest release of their FrequentFinders.com search engine
to run on Mandrake Linux 8.2 Server Edition & the Advanced Extranet
Server.

SiteFusion VP & Co-founder Chris Gilbert writes:
"Mandrake is the by far the most flexible and powerful linux
distribution we've tested, in fact we love it so much that we migrated
our virtual hosting business (http://sitefusion.net) from FreeBSD

Software Updates

Security-related software updates have been released for:

mod_ssl -- fixes buffer overflow
util-linux -- fixes temporary file race
openssl -- provides ASN1 fix

FYI -- Software Locations
----------------------------------------
It seems that many Mandrake users aren't aware that software for the
distribution is available from many different locations. Denis Havlik
provides a quick summary of the various places that contain RPMs for
Mandrake Linux:

 1. Main distribution -- This is the primary location which most users
seem to be aware of.
 2. Contributions -- All Mandrake mirrors contain a second RPM location
called "contributions". This directory contains packages that were
voluntarily built and "contributed" by members of the community. You
can find quite a lot of nice goodies in here. This is also where you
will also find the new packages that are being built by MandrakeClub
volunteers.
 3. Unsupported -- This directory contains unofficial updates for the
stable distribution, packaged by MandrakeSoft employees. Many
often-requested applications (such as Mozilla 1.0 with matching
Nautilus, Galeon, etc.) can be found in the "unsupported" category.
 4. KDE.org -- The KDE mirrors function as an "unsupported" directory
for KDE RPMs (that is, MandrakeSoft developers build unofficial update
RPMs for KDE and post them on KDE's servers instead of in the regular
"unsupported" directory.). KDE 3.0.2 for 8.0, 8.1, and 8.2 has been
available on KDE.org for several weeks now.

BTW -- The first two locations mentioned above are urpmi-aware -- this
means they may be used with urpmi and the Software Manager.

of Zope on the Linux Mandrake distribution. Zope products such as the
CMF, Squishdot, Wiki, etc. can now be installed on Linux Mandrake with
urpmi or rpmdrake tools in a matter of seconds."

Printing and Digital Imaging in Mandrake 9.0 beta 2: Test it!
MandrakeSoft Developer/Printing Guru Til Kamppeter asks for your help
to test the many new printing & digital imaging features included with
9.0 Beta 2. He adds: "Remember, the quality of this release depends on
how many people test it and report their problems!"
