When we moved to Opterons, we kept using Gentoo. Things have gone relatively well for us. We have no major gripes with Gentoo, but of course there's the occasional grumble. We're using pure 64 bit right now, which isn't a problem since we build all of our research own code from source. We are stuck on kernel 2.4 because we can't get rw AFS for kernel 2.6. Please, someone, replace AFS! It won't die on its own. -Paul Komarek
