Linux on the GameCube (O'ReillyNet)

O'ReillyNet looks into a Linux port to the GameCube and talks with the developers. "The GameCube port of Linux works by transferring the code to the console's hardware via an exploit in the game Phantasy Star Online. Another method involves a hardware hack to the console, replacing the GC's serial BIOS chip with an Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD), to allow users to start a binary through the network adapter."

US Citizen afraid to identify himself?

Posted Apr 4, 2004 23:21 UTC (Sun) by nicku (subscriber, #777) [Link]

The citzens of Germany are quite happy to identify themselves, but why is Costis revealing nothing more than a nickname and that he is "a student residing somewhere in the USA"? Is it because he is afraid of the consequences, or is it because he is naturally more modest? He was involved in providing the boot method. Is he worried that US law will consider this prohibited by some aspect of the DMCA?

Soemtimes I wonder just how much freedom the US governement is fighting to preserve.
