FLOSS final report The FLOSS (Free/Libre/Open Source Software) study from the University of Maastricht is now available in its final form. Set aside a fairly large chunk of time to read through the whole thing. "Almost half of the sample (46%) does not earn money from OS/FS, neither directly nor indirectly. In turn, this means that the majority of the OS/FS developers receives some kind of reward for contributions to OS/FS. Comparing the amount of monetary and non-monetary rewards with regard to the respective shares of developers in the different items, both kinds of rewards seem to have the same importance for the community."

Artifex and artofcode announce Ghostscript "bug bounty" In an effort to track down bugs before the 8.0 release of AFPL Ghostscript, Artifex Software, Inc., and artofcode LLC have announced a "bug bounty" program, in which $500 will be awarded to those who find bugs in AFPL Ghostscript. There are a few restrictions on the awards.
