To the Editor,

Just an update on the Open Projects IRC Network and its new parent
organization.

As of its last meeting, Peer-Directed Projects Center, a Texas nonprofit
corporation, has adopted OPN. PDPC was created to run the network and take
on other community-related projects. Its application for 501(c)(3) status
is pending.

While we're changing the world, I should mention that, as of today, OPN's
name is changing: we are now *freenode* (http://freenode.info/). The
network philosophy and goals remain the same. We've tried to pick a name
which would be a bit more memorable than OPN, which should help us as we
continue to grow.

We're in the middle of our initial fundraising campaign, and it's going
pretty well, if a bit slowly. Anyone who would like to contribute should
take a look at http://freenode.info/contrib.shtml, which gives some
background and shows the current status of fundraising. Any help will be
greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Robert Levin
