It's fast (in can preload the next image), it has sane and somewhat customizable keyboard bindings, good full screen and thumbnail modes, good auto-zoom settings. Just the thing you need if you have to go through hundreds or thousands of images. Before gqview I was using xv. I still use it sometimes to generate thumbnail images (which gqview can use). For some reason xv's thumbnail generator is a lot faster than gqview's.
