Hi,
while this is definitely bad news, the procedure is not yet over. As
Jonathan already indicated, the directive itself is not yet written law.
It has to be implemented by the judicative of each member country of the
European Union. It might happen that this raises more public interest
than that more or less hidden vote in the European Parliament. It might
also happen that certain objections are raised with regard to the
constitutions of the EU member countries (the EU itself unfortunately
does not have a constitution yet) or certain other international treaties
like the Human Rights Convention.
That thing is not over, yet.
