Inside TLDP (Linux Journal)

Linux Journal looks at the evolution of the Linux Documentation Project. "Linux environments tend to change at a rather high speed, so do the docs. Sooner rather than later, submissions about new protocols and applications reach TLDP, outdating older documents. The main problem here is TLDP maintainers usually are rather soft-hearted, so partly out of melancholy, partly out of respect and sometimes partly because of the lack of volunteers for upgrading a document, they tend to archive everything."

Does anyone know... have they deleted their "C++ HOWTO" document yet? It was still being distributed years after it had been pointed out, by numerous reviewers, that the entire document was nothing but misinformation and irrelevancies promoting the author's non-standard string class and some other (obscure) language.

The continued presence of this one HOWTO made me disinclined to take the LDP seriously, or to contribute time.

I had forgotten about that one. Latest info straight from TLDP website:

# C++ Programming HOWTO
Removed: November 2002. This HOWTO has been removed for review.
