i3 chooses Trolltech's Qt/Embedded for Mood Box

Qt/Embedded provides i3's next-
generation set-top box with
graphical layer to display content and applications

San Francisco, Calif. (Linux World Conference and Expo) - August 12, 2002 -
Trolltech, the leader in single-source, multi-platform software development,
and i3 micro technology today announced that Qt/Embedded, Trolltech's compact
embedded Linux version of the Qt toolkit, will be included in i3's Mood
Box(TM), a set-top box. The Mood Box will be demonstrated here at LinuxWorld
in booth number 543.

"The Mood Box is a stunning piece of technology that pleases the eye and
delivers the robust functionality necessary for this market," says Haavard
Nord, Trolltech's CEO. "The Mood Box marks the first public entry for
Trolltech and Qt into the home entertainment market. It also proves that
Qt/Embedded is not just platform independent, it is device independent as
well."

The Mood Box, a next-generation set-top box, is designed to fit into any
home, hotel room, or commercial setting by providing users with IP-based
real-time TV, video-on-demand, pay-per-view, music-on-demand, Internet
browsing, e-mail and more. The Mood Box is part of the Mood(TM) product
family, which consists of set-top boxes, various streaming servers, and a
management system.

Qt/Embedded provides i3 micro with the graphical layer necessary to display
content and applications, including the Opera web browser. Qt/Embedded's
scalability and modular environment provides a desktop-strength application
environment for memory-constrained embedded Linux devices, such as the Mood
Box.

"We deliver cutting-edge products and must work with world class partners
like Trolltech," says Hans Holmberg, President, i3 micro technology. "The
Qt/Embedded is the ideal graphical application layer for our Mood Box."
