Yeah, I think it sucks too. Those square things on your screen: they are windows, right? Any other reasonable term for them? And Microsoft didn't invent that term. Sigh.

The Mandrake issue is different. Because Mandrake emphasised the "magic" as part of its logo (wands, trails of stars, etc.) it is clear that they were referring to the Mandrake-the-magician cartoons. However I still think it's short-sighted of the Mandrake-the-magician trademark owners to sue. It was free advertising for them, without infringing on their use in any way. And geeks are well known as cartoon consumers too :-). As someone on Slashdot suggested, they should have just bought an ad on the install screens.

It was by no means clear to a lot of people that the name was taken from the cartoon. Mandrakes have been reputed to have magical properties for thousands of years, see Wikipedia.

No kidding. For more on Mandrakes' powerful magic, see Genesis. (Hint: better than dinner and a movie.)

You should send this link to the Mandrake people.

I also believe there should be a revolution in this world against "business men." In particular, I would like to see a change whereby they are discouraged from trying to own everything under the Sun (hint: the Sun is the correct way to describe the star in the middle of the Solar System. I couldn't give a rat's a** if it's some little businee guy's trademark; if the Sun decided to get pissy today, none of us would be here tomorrow. Think about it.)

You mean a revolution of the workers against the oppressive capitalists? ;-)

Well, that's what all of us pinko Linux freaks are all about anyway, isn't it?

Joke, people. HHOS.

Personally, ccchips, I agree. The problem is all about the marketing of it. ;-)
