Opersys releases "Building Embedded Linux Systems Straight From
Source" Quick Reference Guide
MONTREAL, Canada -- February 23, 2004 -- True to its tradition
of providing its clients with essential expertise for embedded
Linux systems developers, Opersys (http://www.opersys.com) has
released a quick reference guide providing the key commands for
building embedded Linux systems straight from source.
Opersys' quick reference guide was put together by Karim
Yaghmour, Opersys CEO and author of O'Reilly's seminal "Building
Embedded Linux Systems", and includes instructions on how to:
o Build a GNU toolchain
o Configure and package a kernel
o Create and customize a root filesystem
o Debug remote targets
o Use and configure U-Boot
Yaghmour said: "While there are quite a few vendors selling
very restrictive and expensive distributions to embedded
developers seeking to use Linux in their embedded systems, the
fact of the matter is that all the components required to
build an embedded Linux system are freely available on the
Internet. What is needed is an understanding of how to package
the various components together to create a customized
embedded Linux system. For the past five years Opersys has
successfully helped its clients do just that: build embedded
Linux systems straight from source without having to purchase
any 3rd party packages, pay any per-unit royalties, or being
locked-in to any vendors' offerings."
Opersys' quick reference guide is available at
http://wwww.opersys.com/quickref.html. The quick reference guide
can be downloaded and used for personal use. For bulk
distribution contact Opersys.
