MADDOG AND STALLMAN TO THE GNU/LINUX SUMMIT

This year's GNU/Linux Summit presents top speakers. Linux gurus Jon "Maddog"
Hall and Richard Stallman will both speak at the Summit.

Maddog has been The Executive Director of Linux International since 1995, the
first years as a volunteer. Linux International is a non-profit organization
distributes information about Linux, and how it will benefit business and
personal users. They also reserve places at major computer expos, and accept
donations to distribute to programmers who test out applications.

Richard Stallman is the founder of the GNU Project. GNU -project was launched
in 1984 to develop the free operating system, GNU. GNU is free software:
everyone is free to copy it and redistribute it, as well as to make changes.
There are estimated to be some 20 million users of GNU/Linux systems today.

Richard Stallman is the principal author of the GNU Compiler Collection. GNU
Compiler Collection is a portable optimizing compiler, which was designed to
support diverse architectures and multiple languages. The compiler now
supports over 30 different architectures and 7 programming languages.
Stallman also wrote the GNU symbolic debugger (GDB), GNU Emacs, and various
other GNU programs. Stallman currently serves as president of the Free
Software Foundation.

Impressive speaker list
- This is the first time when Maddog and Stallman are seen in the same
seminar. The event is unique and thus worth wile to take advantage of, says
SOT's President Santeri Kannisto.

SOT assists with the Summit's speaker arrangements. The seminar it self is
arranged this year and in the future by Finnish Chamber of Commerce.

SOT has arranged an impressive list of speakers to the Summit. In addition to
Maddog and Stallman e.g. Match Wichmann, David Sugar from the GNU Project,
member of EU Parliament Piia-Noora Kauppi and several other representatives
of companies and public administration, which exploit open source code
systems, are speaking at the Summit.

GNU/Linux Summit is international Linux event, which offers information and
knowledge about possibilities of Linux, open source code software and
freeware. Summit is held at the Finlandia house 26.-27.2.2004.Additional

First time that Maddog and RMS are speaking at one event? Hmm, maybe this year then :)
I remember that both gentlemen were at FOSDEM last year...

" Linux gurus Jon "Maddog" Hall and Richard Stallman will..."

I don't think Stallman is going to like to be called a linux guru.

I think hacker would be more like it.

Of cause, that should be GNU/Linux guru!

Not even that; RMS has not been involved with the Linux kernel in any way (other than as the author of the GPL), and he says that Linux is only the name of the kernel.

That's your second "Richard isn't so great" comment in this week, did Richard kick your dog recently or what? :-)

Everyone knows that RMS isn't an author of Linux-the-kernel, but he is a guru of "the OS known as GNU/Linux".
