Sven
The "Linux-Day" at Chemnitz usually takes place a
the beginning of March. It is the second biggest
event about Open Source Source and Free Operating
Systems in Germany which attracted 1,800 people in
2003 and probably will have some 2,00 visitors in 2004.

This year the two-day event will have 56 lectures,
10 workshops, and over 30 booths for some
companies and many open source projects.

New this year are the LPI exams, two developer meetings,
some short talks, and WaveLAN at the accomodation, too.

Doors are open from 9am to 6pm, and the entrance fee
will be only 5euros for both days, reduced fare is
only 3euros. and it all takes place at the orange
painted lecture house the "Orangerie".

Chemnitz is in the Middle-East of Germany, close to
Dresden and Leipzig, and even closer to the Czech Republic.

There are also some birds-of-a-feather meetings (BOFs),
both a forum for beginners and one for experts,
"Robo-Sumo" (LEGO Mindstorm roboters
trying to shove each other off a table), a talk
from Wilhelmshaven braodcasted live via Internet,
and a talk by Dave Coombs (Canada) on
"WvStreams: An Easier Way to World Domination".

Accomodation can be as cheap as two euros for in-door
campers in a sports gym very close to the event - and
this one will have access points for WaveLAN, too!

Breakfast can be obtained for three euros - flat rate!

There will also be some beamers+cams, a bookshop,
catering, a children's playroom, and a photo site with
penguins, do-it-yourself roboters, a little bit of
merchandising, eg a knoppix cd with a "live linux" with
slides and doumentation of all talks and workshops
(for only two euros), a linux cup and tshirts.

If you like to join then please take look at
these two sites which provide a Car Pool and
transportation by Bus from Berlin (LinuxBus):

http://www.guckes.net/linuxbus/

The entrance for both days will be five euros -
and only three euros at a reduced rate
(for pupils, students, pensioners, etc).

The event is organized by the local Linux User Group
and the Individual Network Chemnitz and is backed up
by the Tech University's Computer Centre.
