Bruce Perens & Desktop Linux Consortium to Host Pavilion at LinuxWorld
The Desktop Linux Consortium (DLC), the premier organization advancing Linux on the desktop, will be hosting LinuxWorld Expo's Desktop Linux Pavilion in Booth #465 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York January 21 through 23, 2004. DLC participation comes at a time of tremendous global momentum around extending the open source Linux operating system to the enterprise desktop in agencies, governments, and corporations. The DLC will be presenting key products, information, and thought leadership on how organizations can benefit from lower licensing costs, greater security, and increased reliability. The Pavilion will bring together key industry leaders, some of which are listed below, making the Linux desktop a reality: * Bruce Perens - Chairman and founding member of the DLC and a leader in the Open Source community, Perens is a former Debian GNU/Linux project leader and the author of the Open Source Definition, a founder of Software in the Public Interest and co-founder of the Open Source Initiative. * John Terpstra - A founding member of Samba.org (website: www.samba.org), an Open Source/Free Software suite that provides seamless file and print services to SMB/CIFS clients. Samba is used to interconnect MS and Linux environments in the enterprise. * Jeremy White - A founding member of the DLC and CEO of Codeweavers, a company that offers technology that enables users to migrate to Linux by allowing them to use the Linux environment on PCs and still running legacy Windows applications.
