This is very exciting news--thanks for adding this contribution to LWN!

Our LUG, most likely, is going to be adding support for Mandrake. We have
debated for two months on the merits of supporting a free, well tested
distribution that we would offer at install-o-fests. Mandrake, with its
stringent reputation to GPL is the one distribution that meets almost all
of our goals. Now, after reading this article, I think our decision to
highlight and support Mandrake might be the best decision we've made since
forming.

Thanks for this article. I also have found similar results when I used
the 2.6 kernel. I haven't yet looked into KDE3.2, but I am sure they are
finally getting to a point of smaller/faster/more/better :)

I think 2004 is going to be one fine year for Mandrake!

Wishing you well.
