-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Dear Red Hat Linux user; We are approaching the published end of life dates for errata support for our Red Hat Linux distributions. We'd like to take this opportunity to remind you of the dates and show you the options available in migrating your Red Hat Linux implementations to Red Hat Enterprise Linux or the Fedora Project. Red Hat Linux 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, and 8.0 distributions will reach their end-of-life for errata maintenance on the 31st December 2003. This means that from 1st January 2004 we will not be producing new security, bugfix, or enhancement updates for these products. Red Hat Linux 9 reaches end of life on April 30, 2004. There are a variety of options available for migration. Red Hat offers Red Hat Enterprise Linux as well as the new Fedora Project. Our Red Hat Linux Migration Resource Center can help you find the Red Hat solution best suited for your needs: http://www.redhat.com/solutions/migration/rhl/ The errata support policy, as well as our current errata and advisories, are available from: http://www.redhat.com/apps/support/errata/ If you are already using Red Hat Enterprise Linux you should change your subscription from redhat-watch-list to enterprise-watch-list. One could argue that telling the truth from the start is a feature :-)

What is so great about open source licensing is that if the market demands support then other vendors are totally unencumbered by legal constraints to provide a similar service....Progeny Transition Service
Progeny Transition Service
NEW! Support added for versions 8.0 & 9
It's a rip-off.Progeny Transition Service
No... it's not a rip off and people can post whatever they want to here :PProgeny Transition Service
It's not a rip off. $60 for a year of updates is cheap. That's the same price RedHat was charging for their up2date service anyway.
Progeny Transition Service
How is "x86 only support" a feature?

End of life for Red Hat?
End of Life for Red Hat Linux 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 8.0
I wonder about those three steps listed on Red Hat's migration page
End of Life for Red Hat Linux 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 8.0
To me it seems like they imply everybody will come to the conclusion RHEL is the right choice for them.
I alsow wonder if there exist an errata page for Fedora like there does for Red Hat Linux.
http://fedora.redhat.com/download/updates.html seems to be the closest thing. Links to the updates, link to archive of fedora-announce-list.

MyUpdates (myupdates.gchsonline.com) is offering update services now, as well. for versions 7.2 through 9.0. It's worth a look. Like Progeny, they decided to go the route of continued support.
