There ain't no such thing as a free lunch. It's a fundamental law of physics, kids.

Actually, this is a fundamental law of economics, but the point is still valid.

Economics and physics both. On the physics side, TNSTAAFL is exemplified by the impossibiity of perpetual motion machines, among other things. Laws of Thermodynamics and all that.

When choosing between citing a law of economics or a law of physics, always choose physics. It is a more absolute citation compared to economics. There is no such thing as a one armed economist, because, as Harry Truman pointed out, economists always say, "On the other hand. . . " ;-)
