(Register) DOS restricts it to 8.3 (by obvious reason). Windows with 32bit driver (most Windows systems today) are just fine.

Some links for those who didn't see the patents Posted Dec 11, 2003 9:13 UTC (Thu) by Ross (subscriber, #4065) [Link] Ah, but Microsoft has its own ISO9660 extensions (they had to reinventthe wheel) called Joliet and something else which I can't remember at the moment :) At least NT4.0 had problems with 30 character filenames on a CD I burned
