The LWN.net 2003 Linux Timeline

A year is a long time in the fast-moving free software world. In 2003,
lawsuits were filed, major releases were made, companies came and went,
and, as always, the code got better. For the sixth straight year, we at
LWN have gone over the year's news and picked out the most significant
events. The result, we hope, is a concise but complete view of what
happened in the Linux community over the course of the year.
This is the final version of the 2003 timeline; if you find any remaining
major omissions, please send them to us at timeline@lwn.net; please do not post
errors or omissions as comments until after we have had a chance to address
them.
