One convenient way to gain access to brain-dead sites which want to limit access to MSIE browsers is to mimic the identification string of MSIE on Windows. I often have my Firebird set to show MSIE 6 on Windows XP because it is the only way I can access certain websites. Even when I'm running Linux, it looks to the web server logs as if I'm running Windows XP.
