Linux CAN be made to run small

It's a shame to see these patches rejected for such specious reasons. Reports from ELC indicate that the kernel can be made to run in small-footprint devices with useful functionality.

The micro-Yocto project has shown a recent kernel running in under 2M RAM, with networking (and presumably with these patches). Vitaly Wool presented some information about running Linux on a system with 2M flash and 256K ram (but the kernel was a bit old - 2.6.33).
