The GPL works around DRM and the DMCA by defining source to be in the "the preferred form for making modifications". If a form is locked up in DRM, it's clearly not the preferred form for modification. The GNU GPL v2 is written in a general, surprisingly non-technical manner, that preserves freedom in the face of drastically changing copyright law. The GNU FDL, specifying particular technologies in its terms, is not (it has other problems, as well). If this is the face of version 3 of the GPL, I'll stick with what I've got, thanks.
