MaxDB by MySQL Now Available

MySQL AB has announced that MaxDB by MySQL has been released. MaxDB is a heavy-duty, SAP-certified open source database that claims to offer high availability, scalability and a comprehensive feature set.

The documentation is not yet online... so I think it is pushed somewhat quicker by an outside force ;)

I wonder, is MaxDB based on the same code base as MySQL, or is it a totally independent project? The press release did not say.

MaxDB is, as I recall, the rebranded SAP database.
