Doctor prescribes Linux for more reliable networks, lower cost (DesktopLinux)

DesktopLinux.com interviews Dr. Martin Echt, a Cardiologist who moved his 200-user network to Linux-based thin clients. "After commissioning a feasibility study, Dr. Echt concluded Linux thin clients were his company's long term strategy to counter rising licensing costs and would scale to meet future technologies. With system integrator Lille Corp. onboard to facilitate the move from Microsoft to Linux, CCA has realized cost savings. Hear the practical reasons why Dr.Echt picked Linux."

Hmmm, that was a nice read. The good doctor sure doesn't mince any words when
describing what Microsoft has done. And he is quite right about it.

He may not mince any words, but I'm afraid I wasn't all that impressed with the overall
quality of the interview. I suspect the folks at DTL.com haven't learned the fine art of
cleaning up the interviewee's grammar, so as not to make yourself look amateurish.

Nice material, but the presentation really *does* matter, guys.

We're trying to sell CIO's. The geeks already Get It.

Agreed. Also, what part of "printable" says "two separate HTML pages"? I realize desktoplinux.com and linuxdevices.com are pretty much home-grown, but come on--glitches like that shouldn't still exist this many years down the road. (Let's not forget, either, that the use of hardcoded font faces in general is discouraged--but requiring "Times New Roman" and nothing else is downright evil. Specifically, it turns into Courier on systems where that particular Times variant doesn't exist. At least add ",serif" to the font tag...)

What kind of idiot tries to enforce Pine on his users???

Nothing against Pine, in fact it is my favourite e-mail program, but users who already
have difficulty with the switch to Linux itself are usually not prepared to master programs
like Pine too.
