All,

The Linux Foundation and The UEFI Forum are hosting a UEFI Plugfest
event in New Orleans on September 19-20, 2013. This event will run
concurrent with Linux Plumbers Conference, just after LinuxCon at the
Hyatt Regency New Orleans.

This event is intended to provide the Linux community with an
opportunity to conduct interoperability testing with a variety of UEFI
implementations. Additionally, the event will feature technical
presentations related to UEFI advancements and key technology insights.

More information is available from the UEFI Events page:

	http://www.uefi.org/events

Participants in this event must join the UEFI at the Adopter level or
above (gratis):

The New Orleans UEFI Plugfest

As someone who's just gone through a Debian UEFI install all I can say is: this couldn't have come sooner.

Hey Robert.

What problems did you have? Did you fill in the installation report or talk to anyone on the mailing list or #debian-boot on irc.debian.net?

I've filed a bug report about the problems I had getting grub to install.

Beyond that the worst thing was the whole feeling of bafflement over whether d-i knew what it was doing UEFI-wise the whole time.

d-i's partitioner is... interesting to say the least.

I'm not sure how much good that will do for debian - they're not a UEFI member, and don't typically come to the plugfests. Canonical is and occasionally does come to the plugfests, but that's not really the same thing.

The UEFI plugfest is typically an NDAed event for UEFI members only, and
I don't /think/ there are special rules for this plugfest, as opposed to the ones that aren't co-hosted with LF events. That said, Red Hat is a member, and if people are interested in seeing how the UEFI plugfests work, I'd be happy to see if I can escort a few people around.

That said, if you're involved in a Linux distribution (or relevant upstream projects), "adopter" level membership is free: http://www.uefi.org/join . We could really use all the participation from the Linux community we can get.

Thanks for the info, I'm looking into signing up now on behalf of Debian.
