Interesting that they're not updating to Gnome 3.8. Does anyone know why or have pointers to discussions about this?

ubuntu devs don't think gnome development is co-operating with as much as they want. discussed even in gnome-ML.

Also I believe due to the release schedule 3.8 didn't get to fit in. (But there is a 3.8 PPA out)
