-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fedora Update Notification FEDORA-2013-4424 2013-03-26 23:44:33 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Name : py-bcrypt Product : Fedora 17 Version : 0.3 Release : 1.fc17 URL : http://code.google.com/p/py-bcrypt/ Summary : Python bindings for OpenBSD's Blowfish password hashing code Description : python-bcrypt is a Python wrapper of OpenBSD's Blowfish password hashing code, as described in "A Future-Adaptable Password Scheme" by Niels Provos and David Mazières. This system hashes passwords using a version of Bruce Schneier's Blowfish block cipher with modifications designed to raise the cost of off-line password cracking and frustrate fast hardware implementation. The computation cost of the algorithm is parametised, so it can be increased as computers get faster. The intent is to make a compromise of a password database less likely to result in an attacker gaining knowledge of the plaintext passwords (e.g. using John the Ripper). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update Information: Fix for CVE-2013-1895: py-bcrypt <0.3 contains a concurrency bug that could result in auth bypass. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ChangeLog: * Tue Mar 26 2013 Jon Ciesla <limburgher@gmail.com> - 0.3-1 - Latest upstream, fixes CVE-2013-1895: concurrency issue leading to auth bypass * Thu Feb 14 2013 Fedora Release Engineering <rel-eng@lists.fedoraproject.org> - 0.2-8 - Rebuilt for https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_19_Mass_Rebuild * Sat Jul 21 2012 Fedora Release Engineering <rel-eng@lists.fedoraproject.org> - 0.2-7 - Rebuilt for https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_18_Mass_Rebuild -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- References: [ 1 ] Bug #927510 - CVE-2013-1895 py-bcrypt: concurrency issue leading to auth bypass [fedora-all] https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=927510 [ 2 ] Bug #927512 - CVE-2013-1895 py-bcrypt: concurrency issue leading to auth bypass [epel-6] https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=927512 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This update can be installed with the "yum" update program.
