Why people think D, Go, Rust or some other "modern" language can replace C++? They all lack the ability to convert your program in new language piece-by-piece which means they'll have as much success trying to replace C++ and Plan9 had trying to replace UNIX.
I can imagine new language which will start from C and will go from there (think Objective-C), but even this is not all that likely. New, incompatible one? No chances, sorry.
Sure, we'll see some projects written in these languages, but what exactly will distinguish these from projects written in Java or, ugh, PHP?
