do you know how to do it on a Lenovo Edge 430? all i see is (with the latest BIOS from february) that i can restore the factory keys but not how i can add my own.

Assuming it's like the X230 firmware, choose the option that returns you to setup mode. You can then enrol your choice of keys using the standard UEFI SetVariable calls.
