I actually wonder, without having looked at that code, whether a project should _want_ to have code from a non-cooperative developer, especially when he's the sole author of a big feature. It certainly is buggy, certainly needs maintenance, and that might be a huge burden. It's actually why I'm wary of gsoc, too, these days.
