In the case of init systems, Ubuntu does not inherit the options from Debian, neither sysvinit nor systemd are available in the repositories. And since many init scripts have been removed from Ubuntu packages in favor of upstart jobs, your system will almost certainly not boot correctly if you install another init system from source.
