I will repeat what I said below: Don't judge Active by Android/iOS limitations :)
I completely agree with your assessment that Android absolutely *blows* as a productivity environment. It's a fine phone UI, but for a "real" computer it falls very flat.
We're not emulating that system, but instead creating something that (we intend) to work well without being afraid to consider the use of concepts (such as non-hierarchical organization) just because other efforts got it horribly, horribly wrong.
it's like watching someone fall off their bike because they are texting instead of keeping their hands on the handlebar, smash their face into the ground due to a lack of helmet and then coming to the conclusion that you should never attempt riding a bike. how about just keeping your hands where they should be and wearing a helmet? :)
