"I believe that many would love to have a phone with a Linux kernel and a UI that is not Android" Indeed! I just purchased a Nokia N900 from eBay and I love it. It's a complete shame that Nokia abandoned Maemo/Meego/etc. I love running real Linux on my phone and I don't think I could ever settle for anything less. I even ported my Remind tool to my phone... took about 5 minutes because it was just ./configure && make.
