Meet PicUntu, a lightweight Linux designed for tiny PCs (PCWorld)

PCWorld introduces PicUntu, an Ubuntu based distribution that targets the RK3066 chipset. PicUntu has also been tested on the MK808 and UG802 devices. "Potential applications for the resulting device include a company Web server, corporate mail server, central database server, content manager, “developer's paradise,” or power GUI desktop, it says, with optional extras available such as Flash, graphics programs, and Office suite clones."

"diminutive"

Maybe our editor can clarify this, but are all technology journalists contractually obliged to use the word "diminutive" at every possible opportunity? I don't think there's another word in the English language that is so generally uncommon and yet so overused in technology coverage.

An exercise for the bored reader is to navigate the referenced PCWorld article and related articles and see if "diminutive" appears. After a brief inspection, I suspect nearly 100% article coverage.

I am, of course, the last person to speak with any authority as to what technology journalists do. A quick search says that the word has appeared 104 times on LWN in our entire 15-year history — and two of them were from your comment which, it seems, took them about 30 seconds to notice and put in the index.

I can't say I've ever noticed it either, but searching for "diminutive" on PCWorld gives 1100 hits.

Phoronix gives 51 and Ars 81, so I think it's just them..
