F17 was the release that included /UsrMove ... so _don't_ use yum to upgrade from F16 to it.

Why not? You just follow the steps outlined at

If you follow your link there is a giant yellow warning box at the top of the screen telling you not to do what you are recommending.

That's not what the warning says and I have been doing that for years. YMMV.

Well, thats handled entirely via the dracut module rather than yum.
