Some new minor site features

Regular LWN readers might be aware of the fact that we report from a fair number of conferences. The curious can now see just how many (and what we report on) in the new LWN.net conference coverage index. It turns out that even we were surprised by just how many events we've been to. Needless to say, we're not done; the conference index will be kept current as we report from future events (next stop: linux.conf.au).

Part of getting to future conferences, of course, is remembering to get our speaking proposals in on time. On the suspicion that we are not the only ones with this kind of problem, we have extended the LWN Events Calendar to include a calendar dedicated to call-for-proposals deadlines. If you have been thinking about presenting your work to the community and would like to know whose deadlines you are about to miss, the CFP deadline calendar should be a helpful resource.

What about that new feature "mobile phone style" ?
Reading LWN on android phones can be painful...

Galaxy S3 stock browser. Works great, though I did have to tweak the zoom settings.

I've found it's quite easy to read LWN on Firefox for Android. Not so much with Dolphin or the stock browser.

Since a few weeks ago, Firefox Mobile now works on Android handsets with older processors. So, maybe not all - but most, even elder handsets are able to run Firefox these days.

[A] calendar dedicated to call-for-proposals deadlines

That's just brilliant! Thank you!

Every day I come and read LWN, I know why I am a subscriber! :-)

However, one small request: Would it be possible to access the calendars via CalDav?

Thank you, keep up the good work!

Yann E. MORIN.

Did https://lwn.net break during the upgrade? I was using the secured site exclusively, but it fails to open since yesterday.

It works for me, though very slowly. I had blamed Tor.

Strange. We do all our work through HTTPS, so we'd notice fairly quickly if it weren't working well. Needless to say, I'm not seeing any problems here.

It works for me from work. So I'll re-check what makes it time-out at home.

Would it be possible to include a way to switch the listing of conferences by year as well as by conference?

By-year listing

I'd kind of figured somebody would ask for that... It should be easy to do, yes, stay tuned.

Thank you!
