what I really want is an "Ignore subthread", so when the discussion goes tangent I can just ignore everything from that point on.
Of course there's a chance that the thread goes tangent again to something interesting, but that's relatively rare.

If you ignore a user, subthreads rooted at posts by those users are also folded away and ignored (unless you unfold them).

if I ignore a user every time a discussion goes tangent, pretty sure I will have no one else to ignore ;-)
