The original Artistic license is one of the few licenses that GNU does not consider free but OSI considers open source.

Having been in court about the Artistic license 1.0, I can tell you that is no loss. Nobody should be using it any longer.

Interesting also that there is no mention of this in the opensource.org website, eventhough there are links to a similar proposal that was launched in Peru almost 10 years ago.
