That can often be the case. In those situations I ask myself: why was it so slow before? A trade-off that comes to mind is: performance vs time to market.

Hmm, this indicates to me that my experience is atypical, which means it is less likely to be noticed and fixed :(.
(Before upgrading to 4.2, my Nexus 7 could last at least a week in standby with the wireless on. Now if I forget to turn the wireless off when I'm done with it the battery will be dead by the next day.)
