I see no sense in upgrading a Nexus 7, which runs beautifully on the stock Jelly Bean (4.2) ROM. But I'd love to upgrade my HTC Sensation phone, whose stock ICS (4.0) ROM seems to grow slower and clunkier by the day...

Heh.
ICS 4.0 was amazing when it was new.
Nothing changed, yet now it is clunky.

In this case we trade off performance for functionality.

Then you will have a bad time explaining how and why 4.2 is faster and uses less battery than 4.0 and 4.1 ... :-D

Hmm, this indicates to me that my experience is atypical, which means it is less likely to be noticed and fixed :(.
(Before upgrading to 4.2, my Nexus 7 could last at least a week in standby with the wireless on. Now if I forget to turn the wireless off when I'm done with it the battery will be dead by the next day.)
