Did you actually send something to the systemd mailing list. I lurk on that list, and the only issue that some people could be having is that the developers are really clear about their opinion. What you might miss due to culture is that *at the same time* they're open for different opinions (and IMO they make really clear that they're open for different opinions/arguments).
Maybe if you're used to only very subtle ways of communicating, it can appear as aggressive. In my view, it is useful and I see the same style more often in The Netherlands, Germany (any business communication) as well as technology related communication.
