Guile is not a language; it's primarily an implementation of the Scheme and Emacs Lisp languages, and also comes with a less mature ECMAscript (aka. JavaScript) front-end.
Scheme itself is a neat language to learn and work with. The famous Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs (SICP) is considered by many an excellent introduction to Scheme and programming in general.
